South Coast
The south coast of California is "surf city," with miles of sandy beaches where kids can swim, boogie board and surf. Go on whale watching cruises to see the gray whales from December to April.
Mission San Juan Capistrano – Mission Juan Capistrano was completed in 1777, and the small Serra Chapel is still in use. Today, you can see the chapel, workshops, storerooms, forge and kitchen, cemetery, garden, fountains, and bronze church bells.
Also called "Mission of the Swallows," for centuries, migrating swallows returned to the mission each March, observed by a celebration on Saint Joseph's Day, March 19.
The mission is easy to get to, located just off Interstate 5.
