Beaches -
Main Beach Park - Located right in the center of town, this white sand beach has a large children's playground, grassy areas, restrooms and showers, lifeguards in summer. And all year round this is a popular spot for families.
Aliso Beach Park - Long sandy beach that's perfect for splashing in the waves and building sand castles. There's also a playground with climbing structures and picnic tables. Walk north up the beach to Treasure Island Park to find tide pools at low tide.
Shaw's Cove & Diver's Cove - Shaw's Cove has excellent tide pooling, where you'll see sea anemones and hermit crabs. Diver's Cove is also a good family beach for boogie boarding and swimming.
Pacific Marine Mammal Center (Laguna Canyon Rd.) - Here's where you can see the local "pinnipeds" - California sea lions, harbor seals, and elephant seals. Open daily.
Sawdust Art Festival - The yearly Sawdust arts and crafts festival always has a family day with hands-on arts projects, and demonstrations where kids can watch artisans throwing pots and glass-blowing. Click here for more information.
