Las Vegas

Where else can kids ride a roller coaster around the Statue of Liberty, shop at the Roman Forum, look for a skull at Treasure Island, ride to the top of the Eiffel tower, and then have a gelato at Piazza San Marco? The center of Las Vegas, or the Strip as it's called, is four miles of themed landmarks, splashy fountains and lagoons, hotels, casinos, shopping, restaurants, shows, and attractions.

Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Cactus Garden (2 Cactus Drive, Henderson) - If you're taking a day trip to Hoover Dam or Lake Mead, stop at Ethel M on the way. On a self-guided factory tour, kids can see candies being made, and there are free samples in the shop. Best of all, the cactus garden outside is fabulous, particularly if kids haven't seen a wide variety of cacti - ocotillo, jumping cholla, rabbit ears, saguaro, barrel, prickly pear, and hedgehog cactus!
Tip: Lake Mead or Hoover Dam are easy day trips from Las Vegas.
