Day Trips
Montmorency Falls (Parc de la Chute Montmorency) - It's well worth a visit to this spectacular falls, higher than Niagara Falls. Water plunges from the Montmorency River, 272 ft over the falls and down into the St. Lawrence River. From the upper cliffs, there's a panoramic walkway down to a lookout at the base of the falls, and a level promenade along the river. Or, take Royal Trail (Sentier Royal) to the suspension bridge that spans the river, over the falls! For more breathtaking views of the falls and St. Lawrence River, ride the cable car (telepherique) to the top of the falls. There are playgrounds, picnic tables (bring your lunch), snack bars and restaurants, so plan to spend the day.
Ile d'Orleans - A short distance by car from Quebec City, spend the day on the island, Ile d'Orleans. Just drive on Rte 244 in a loop around the long skinny island, passing through six different townships. Along the way you'll find a chocolate factory (chocolaterie), cider houses (cidreries), sugar shacks (traditional maple products), and farms where in summer, June to September, you can pick your own strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and apples
