Columbia River

In October 1805, Lewis & Clark wrote, "After 17 days, this great roaring river compressed between 2 rocks not 45 yards wide. Determined to pass this swelling, boiling, and whorling in every direction we rode with great velocity and passed safe, to the astonishment of the Indians who viewed us atop the rocks." Follow Lewis & Clark's route through the dramatic Columbia Gorge to the mouth of the Columbia River and Fort Clatsop.
