Hiroshima - When the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima in 1945, it leveled an entire city. One wreck of a building near the epicenter is now the Atom Bomb Dome, a moving testament to that moment of destruction.
In the Peace Memorial Park (Heiwa Kinen Koen) is a monument to Sadako, a 12 year old girl who died of leukemia as a result of the atom bomb. Sadako started to fold a 1000 origami cranes before she died; her classmates finished the rest.
