Northeast Germany

Northeastern Germany includes Baltic Sea resorts, and it's biggest island, Rugen, as well as the province of Brandenburg, and the capital of Germany, Berlin.

Rugen
Spreewald (Spree Forest) - The Spree Forest is a marvelous forested area sprinkled with picturesque towns. From Lubben or Cottbus, take a flat bottomed boat trip around the canals. The boats are poled through the water by boatmen (or women) in traditional costumes. In summer this area is popular with tourists, so don't expect a completely peaceful environment. This is also a good area for hiking and biking. Hiking maps (Wanderkarte) are available.
