St. Augustine
St. Augustine, founded in 1565 and one of the oldest European settlements, is often called "The Oldest City" in the United States.
Tip: Buy tickets to Old Town Trolleys or the Red Trains. Tickets are good for three consecutive days with over 20 stops throughout the uptown and downtown areas. The one-hour tour gives a great overview of local history. In addition to the tour, both companies offer service to St. Augustine Beach included in the price of your ticket.
Weather is hot in the summer time; spring and fall begin cool, warm up during the day, and end cool; wintertime varies daily. Slather on the sunscreen, and for strolls in marshy or woodsy areas, bring insect repellent.
