Devizes
Devizes - The Kennet & Avon Canal runs through Devizes, a charming medieval market town. It's relaxing along the canal, enjoy peaceful scenes and narrow boats on the water. For budding engineers, be sure to walk along the Caen Hill Locks - 29 locks in 2 miles! Bring a picnic, or stop into a tea room along the walkway.
In summer, take a 90 min. narrow boat ride on the canal. Boats leave from Devizes Wharf, Sunday afternoons Easter to Sept. and Wed. and Sat. in July and August.
Lacock Abbey (Lacock, near Devizes) - Another wonderful place to visit is Lacock, the medieval town that is home to 13th-century Lacock Abbey, used for interior scenes of Hogwarts School in the Harry Potter movies. Check out the abbey kitchen, and imagine living a cloistered life. Outside, in the abbey grounds there are paths and forests to explore. Across the road from the abbey is a picnic area and tea room.
