Brontes Parsonage Museum (Haworth, near Bradford) - Visit the Parsonage in Haworth, home to Emily and Charlotte Bronte. Haworth is surrounded by the Yorkshire moors where the sisters rambled while they wrote their rambling novels. Even if your kids haven't read the Bronte novels, the moors will give them something to remember.
From the charming village of Haworth, take footpaths to Bronte Falls, Bronte Bridge and the Bronte Stone where the sisters wrote stories. Farther up on the moors is Top Withins, a ruin on a windy hillside, thought to be the setting of Wuthering Heights.
Mother Shipton's Cave (Knaresborough) - Mother Shipton's Cave is one of those oddities, where water from the Petrifying Well above seeps down into the cave. Over the years, people have brought everyday objects which quickly become encased in stone, A tourist site since 1630, it's "England's oldest attraction."
