Lake Tahoe
Sand Harbor - This is one of the most beautiful beach accesses at Lake Tahoe, unspoiled and natural, with a long arc of white sand, and views across Lake Tahoe to the west. The water is shallow and crystal clear, with smooth granite boulders poking out of the water. Sand Harbor is a place to relax, and let the kids play as long as they like in the water.
Zephyr Cove -
Lake cruises - Year round, take a 2 hour cruise on the paddlewheeler M.S. Dixie to Emerald Bay and back. Lots of lore about Vikingsholm and fun facts about Lake Tahoe.
Beach day - Spend the playing on the long sandy beach, or swimming in the water. You can rent umbrellas and beach chairs, bring your sand toys.
Boating - Rent pedal boats, kayaks, water skis, power boats, and get out on the lake.
Sportfishing - Lake Tahoe is home to different varieties of trout and salmon, and there's sportfishing for families. Take a half day trip morning or afternoon, no experience necessary, rods and bait, life jackets, day fishing licenses are included, and kids will enjoy reeling in those big fish.
Horseback riding - Zephyr Cove Stables has 1 or 2 hour guided trail rides through the forests by the lake. If you have a bigger family group, breakfast, lunch or dinner rides are also available. For kids 7 and up.
