Town of Mammoth Lakes
Mammoth Creek Park - Our favorite spot in the town is Mammoth Creek Park, a small park with grass, big chunks of granite to climb on and a playground.
But best of all, from the park cross over the bridge, walk south along Mammoth Creek until you reach grassy meadows, little islands, and access to the creek. Spend the afternoon playing in the creek, building little dams and enjoying the high mountain scenery.
Another larger park in town, Shady Rest Park, has a playground with swings and climbing structures, a basketball court, soccer fields, and picnic tables. If you have bikes, pick up the paved bike path here.
Go biking - Rent bikes in town go for a ride on the paved Town Loop bike path. Start at Mammoth Creek Park, and bike south along the creek for panoramic views of Sherwin mountains to the east. Or, go north on the bike path, and ride all the way to Eagle Lodge (some dirt sections).
There are plenty of places to rent bikes, such as Mammoth Outdoor Sport and Footloose Sports, which have kids' bikes for rent, including baby joggers, kid's trailers, kid seats and helmets.
Frosty's Miniature Golf - Everyone in the family will enjoy a round of mini-golf. Frosty's is located on Old Mammoth Rd. near the supermarket, open year round, hours variable.
Tip: During the summer, on Canyon Blvd. pick up the free Lakes Basin Trolley to Twin Lakes, Lake George, Horseshoe Lake, or the free shuttle up to Mammoth Mountain.
