Whistler - Winter activities
Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains get many feet of snow in winter, and the ski season can run from November to June, turning it into a fabulous area for winter sports.
Snow School - The Ski and Snowboard school has group and private lessons for kids 3 and up, three or five day Adventure Camps for beginners to experienced skiers, including lunch, snacks and hot chocolate. Ski equipment and helmets available for rent. Winter Child Care provides infant and toddler childcare, up to age 4. The ski school has three different locations at Whistler Village, Blackcomb and Creekside, and you'll want to reserve lessons in advance
Tube Park - On Blackcomb Mtn. ride the Excalibur Gondola to mid-station for the tube park. There's eight different lanes, from easy to more difficult. Tubes are in kid sizes, plus hot chocolate available and a play area. Tube Park is open December to April.
Ice skating - Meadow Park Sports Centre has a year-round indoor ice skating rink, afternoons are for public skating. Helmets and skates are available for rent, just remember to bring socks. (Meadow Park also has an indoor pool, kid's, and jacuzzi, towels available.)
Sleigh rides -
Across from the Fairmont Chateau, go for a 30 min. sleigh ride, drawn by beautiful big Percheron horses (kids under 4 are free).
Blackcomb Sleigh Rides offers sleigh rides around Green Lake, or a longer scenic sleigh ride on Blackcomb Mountain. Blankets are provided but dress warmly.
Dog sled tours - Experience the snowy wilderness on a dog sled - there's something about huskies that kids just love! Sleds only hold one adult and child, so a family of four will need two sleds, but the dog musher (your guide) will be with you at all times.
