Sea to Sky Highway

The Sea to Sky Highway really does feel like you're going from the sea up to the sky. Going north from Vancouver, the highway hugs Howe Sound, then winds up to Whistler, an alpine valley flanked by snow covered mountains. As the highway continues north the scenery is even more dramatic - emerald lakes and pointy volcanic peaks.

Tip: We drove all the way on Highway 99 to central British Columbia, and it's just spectacular. A nice loop trip from Vancouver is to spend time in Squamish or Whistler, then continue on Highway 99, returning via Highway 1 through the Fraser Valley.
