Calgary
Winter Activities

Canada Olympic Park - A legacy of the 1988 Winter Games that catapulted Calgary into the limelight, Canada Olympic Park is a winter wonderland. The home base of the second largest ski school in Canada, the Olympic Park also boasts a half-pipe. For teens over 16, experience the breakneck speeds of the bobsleigh and luge firsthand. Ski lessons and snowboarding for kids of all ages, and equipment rentals.

Ice Skating - Strap on some skates and have fun as a family on the ice. There is free public skating every day at the Olympic Plaza (228 8 Ave. S.E.) in the heart of downtown. The skating rink is open for public ice-skating from 10am to 9pm daily from the middle of November until the middle of March, weather permitting.
If skating on a lake is more your style, try the frozen lagoon at Bowness Park (8900 48 Ave N.W.). Here you can enjoy a hot chocolate around the firepit on the ice. Skates can be rented at the ParkSide Cafe, Wednesday through Sunday, 10am to 5pm.
